Vegetation

The vegetation of the Llobregat delta stands out for its diversity. It shelters a numerous vegetable communities and rare and emblematic species. The mixture fresh and salty water, the sandy and clayey areas, and the occasional or permanent flood are factors that explain the diversity and the singularity of the delta vegetation.

The Delta shelters the main population of Kosteletzkya pentacarpos or aquatic mallow and one of the few populations of Stachys maritima in Catalonia. 22 different species orchids have been found and the Delta is one of the richest areas in Catalonia regarding in orchids.

The Delta shelters significant examples of vegetation that grows in marshes and coastal sandbanks, as well as some of the best areas of littoral stone pine groves on dunes in our country, with a great richness in fungi.
